Activities to do whilst visiting the Daintree National Park

A superb Double-Eyed Fig Parrot...
There are many things to do here, which will make your stay here a memorable one. Listed below are a few suggestions for you.

Take a walk around the property. Go quietly - many animals are secretive and won't be seen by noisy people. Look for details: size of trees, leaf size, type of trees. These details will help distinguish forest types. Flowers, fruit and seeds on the forest floor will reveal where they came from in the canopy overhead. Take your time - if you stop to look and listen; animals may appear suddenly.

Take a walk through one of the paths on the property, then at the restaurant lookup what you have discovered in the reference library. Guided walks are available with Lync-Haven Rainforest Retreat, Masons Guided Walks or other locations close by. Night and day walks are available. We are able to book these for you.

Guided Tour - Night...
Daintree Rainforest Environmental Centre is located at the bottom of the Alexandra Range, and has some wonderful facilities. There is a tree top tower, theatres showing information on the Rainforest, touch screens, Rainforest Boardwalks and other great information. Tell them you are staying at Lync-Haven Rainforest Retreat and you will receive a reduced special price that is offered to our guests.

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest reef measuring 2,011 kms in length and 72 kms across at the widest point. The Reef covers an area greater than that of Victoria or Great Britain and is half the size of Texas. It is easy to experience this magic where animal and plant life is extravagant and brilliant colours of the coral forests and gardens are to be seen. Reef cruises can be organised for you from Cape tribulation.

A crystal-clear Swimming Hole...
Cape Tribulation Cruises offer you another view of the Reef and the Rainforest, as this is where the two meet. There are a variety of cruises on the Daintree Rivers and one at Coopers Creek, which is located in the World Heritage listed area. $19.00 for adults and $15.50 per child.

Wundu Rainforest Trail Rides are one of two horse rides that are available in the area. Wundu Trail Rides climb up into the neighbouring hills, where you can see the Coral Sea through the bays and the Rainforest Valleys. Wundu cater for beginners to experienced horse riders. Departing at 8.40am and 2.30pm daily, reservations are essential.

The remaining 163 kms is gravel...
Other activities you are able to do include: Daintree Entomological Centre (with one of the largest private displays of Australian butterflies, beetles and insects); Paddle Trekking, Sea Kayaking; ½ day waterfall safaris, full day safaris, Cooktown Safaris and National Park Boardwalks at: Dubuji, Maardja and Jindalba and Cape Tribulation headland. You are also able during drier times of the year, to walk up to Alexandra Falls, located at the top of Cooper Creek. We also recommend Mason's Tours for the 4WD enthusiast and for other Guided Tours of all kinds.
